The Different Elements of Music Videos

I personally feel that the information in the previous post regarding Forms and Conventions of music videos was extremely helpful and will be a great aid for when I come to make my own A2 Music Video. One thing that I gathered from reading the document was that a Music Video doesn't have to comply to a single genre of what the song is, intact it can completely differ from the genre of the song and utilise a key amount of elements in order to do this. I have also been able to identify with Intertextuality by reading the document and I now understand that artists can freely copy lots of elements from other elements of life and place them in to their own music video to create a mood, theme or even image for themselves.

I have also noticed from reading the previous blogs document that a lot of the things that go unnoticed in a Music Video are actually encoded into the audiences brain and are there fore a reason. For example, i now understand how the director can change the Performance Based video into a concept based one to try and make the fans feel closer, something that the fans will not notice while watching the video but they will almost certainly feel more compelled to like the video in their heart and their head as the director has cleverly brought them closer into the bands life or performance to create the emotions of being at a gig or a concert and watching that particular band perform.

  1. Excellent - but unsure of what you mean in paragraph of turning performance based to concept based - please explain in your REPLY and maybe clarify in your write up on this post.
